Armed seas, helpless skies

June 23, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Although America donated two 10 thousand million patrol boats to face drug trafficking in the sea, Costa Rican airspace is helpless against this threat. This happens because the country doesn’t have what it needs to attack any aircraft.

Diario Extra asked president Solís what his opinion was regarding Costa Rica’s vulnerability to drug trafficking in its airspace, since small aircrafts with drugs and illegal airstrips have been reported. He answered it was an effort that has to combine airspace and land security. The president added

“In a few months, I repeat, we’ll see the results of that teamwork.”
