December 19, 2016 by Staff News Writer

On Saturday night and Sunday morning, the residents of Tibás, Moravia, Goicoechea and Coronado reported ashfall and a strong sulfur smell, according to information from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI).

The entity explained that the seismic record shows very small increases in the amplitude of the tremor.

When it has been observed, it has been determined that the plume of vapors rises about 100 meters above the crater.

The wind direction is maintained to the west, according to the National Meteorological Institute, always towards the Central Valley.
