Ashfall is affecting the Central Valley

January 4, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Turrialba volcano activity remains in force and it keeps affecting the Central Valley, where this morning the National Meteorological Institute (IMN) reported a significant ash cloud.

An image published on Twitter shows the cloud in the northwest of the Great Metropolitan Area (GAM) at about 6:45 am.

According to a report provided by the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI), ashfall was reported in areas such as Heredia, Goicoechea, Moravia, San José and Tibás.

The same institution published a video on its Facebook page where it is possible to observe the activity of the colossus from Alto de Las Palomas in Santa Ana.

The volcano activity has remained constant in recent months, but in recent days it has intensified.
