Assembly authorized and financed lunch with religious leader accused of abuses against minors

The Legislative Assembly authorized and financed a lunch with the religious leader Naasón Joaquín Flores, leader of the Church La Luz del Mundo and self-proclaimed apostle of Jesus Christ, on January 17th, 2018.

The minutes of the Assembly state that Gerardo Vargas Rojas, head of fraction of the PUSC, requested to receive the leader in the lounge of presidents of Congress.

The activity was supported by the Public Relations, Press and Protocol Department.

Naasón Joaquín Flores was in the Congress on January 24th, 2017, where he was recognized for his work in favor of the Costa Rican society, his great impulse to the youth of the country and the recognition and defense of women.

Legislators of the Social Christian Unity Party (PUSC) and José Alfaro of the Libertarian Movement were present at the reception.

Naasón, 50, was charged and arrested in California , United States, for the alleged crimes of rape of minors and child pornography, trafficking in persons, among others, which accumulate 26 complaints.
