Authorities foresee severe impact on banana and pineapple plantations

November 23, 2016 by Staff News Writer

In the midst of the preventive actions carried out by the Costa Rican authorities in the aftermath of Hurricane Otto, the Government warns about the impact on the agricultural production.

Banana and pineapple plantations could be affected, as announced by President of the Republic Luis Guillermo Solís during the Governing Council.

Due to the heavy rains and winds, banana and pineapple plantations  are likely to be greatly affected, as well as the production of tubers, dairy and fruit,

stated Solís.

Winds could be expected to blow from the northeast to the northwest, which would impact the entire central region of the country, affecting the coffee harvest that is currently underway.
