Authorities found 11 horses before they were slaughtered for human consumption

July 11, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The Border Police of the Ministry of Security confiscated 11 horses, which apparently were unhealthy and intended for human consumption.

The animals were found in a patrol in the town of Las Delicias, canton of Los Chiles, about two kilometers from Mojón No. 7.

In that place, the smugglers who were introducing them to the country, after noticing the police presence, abandoned 11 horses and slipped through the bushes into the territory of the neighboring country,”

said the police in a press release.

The authorities determined that the horses had Nicaraguan marks, they were thin, wounded in their backs, plagued with ticks and parasites. The animals were placed under the care of the National Animal Health Service (SENASA) in Los Chiles.
