Authorities seized a fishing boat that was transporting 826 kilos of cocaine

A Costa Rican, fishing boat was intercepted with 826 kilos of cocaine in national Pacific waters.

[rzu]p style=”text-align: justify;”>The statement made by the National Coastguard, from the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), was supported by US authorities as part of the joint patrol agreement between both nations.

The police action resulted in the arrest of four people: three Costa Rican and one Nicaraguan citizens. The Nicaraguan detainee, surnamed Guevara, has residency card, and he has records of violation of the Psychotropic Substance Act and the General Law on Firearms and Explosives.

Gustavo Mata, Minister of Public Security, declared that the boat, named “Budgie”, P-1274 registration, is a traditional fishing boat. According to official reports, it left Puntarenas on October 4th.
