AyA blames excess rainfall for lack of water in several sectors

September 30, 2019 by Staff News Writer

Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AyA) said the lack of water in sectors of Goicoechea and Moravia is due to the large amount of rainfall on Saturday.

Due to the heavy rains of recent days, the rivers drag branches, leaves, sediments and even garbage, which blocks the water entrance to the plant, so sufficient liquid does not get in, or it’s very cloudy (with mud) and due to quality protocol it is necessary to stop operating and supply water to the population.

As long as the weather conditions permit, AyA works 24 hours a day performing cleaning tasks to restart the operation of the system; however, the daily rains make it difficult,”

said the entity in a statement.

AyA added that this situation causes the system to be forced in some moments to work with the minimum of its capacity affecting some sectors.

Although it was estimated that the restoration of the service would begin gradually after 7 pm this Sunday, according to reports received on CRHoy.com, the liquid supply had not been restored at that time.
