AyA to place 236 thousand water meters this year

January 17, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Aqueducts and Sewers (AyA) will install 60,000 new water meters in the first 6 months of 2017.

For the second half, they would install the other 176,000, whose tender is in the process of adjudication.

AyA states that there is a possibility to extend the contract to 88 thousand water meters by 2018.

The institution also defended itself from the results of a study presented by the Public Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP), which found that 60% of AyA water meters in the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM) do not work properly.

AyA ensured that the study used data from 2015, which apparently do not match the monthly records sent to ARESEP in September 2016.
