BCR will charge more than $1 for each withdrawal from a different ATM

April 3, 2017 by Staff News Writer

If you are a customer of the Bank of Costa Rica (BCR) and use ATMs from another entity, you will be charged $1.25 for each transaction.

Said measure applies for any amount withdrawn with debit cards from the BCR and from Kristal.

According to the banking institution, this is a process of standardization of commissions.

For example, the National Bank used to charge a fee of $0.50, but in ATH ATMs it was $1 and when the transaction was in an ATM from other entities, the amount ranged from $3 + 0.50% of the amount withdrawn.

With this change, the commission is unified for all ATMs in Costa Rica -that are not part of the BCR network- and provides the client with the calculation of the cost of each commission,”

indicates the press release issued by the bank.

So, in order to avoid such charges, try to use ATMs from the BCR, which are commission-free, provided you do not exceed five transactions in a month.

Instead, this charge is$ 0.25 and is only applied to accounts whose half-yearly average balance is less than $350 or its equivalent in colones,”

explained the document.

In addition, you can check out Tucán points for this service.

In addition, you can check the digital services of bancobcr.com, bancakristal.com and Sinpe Móvil, which also reduce cash handling and visits to the ATM.
