Bridge between China and Costa Rica

May 26, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Isabel Yung arrived in Costa Roca from China with her family 41 years ago. She didn’t speak Spanish or knew the culture. However, Costa Ricans quickly made her feel at home.

Today Yung is the president of the China Association Cologne in Costa Rica and says its mission is to find bridges to unite 2 cultures.

For her, the work done by the Association is important because it allows the two countries to meet and interact. To that end, in 2013 she organized the preparation of the world’s largest fried rice, which made them worthy of a Guinness World Record.

Yung said that

Costa Rica can learn rapid economic growth strategies from China, which in turn can learn about social awareness and respect for biodiversity from Costa Rica.”
