Calderón Guardia improves service to patients with cancer and kidney failure

May 9, 2017 by Staff News Writer

On Tuesday, Calderón Guardia Hospital inaugurated important improvements in the hemodialysis service and a new operating room for the care of cancer patients who require minimally invasive surgeries.

The investment in the equipment amounts to 500 million colones, as each machine has a cost of $17 thousand. This also implies an expansion of the schedules and expedites services.

It is part of a process of integral strengthening. At the same time we are working with the nephrology network that allows the early care of patients,”

said doctor Tanacio Lemos.

María del Rocío Sáenz, Executive President of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), said that there were normally 40 treatments a day and now there will be 54, which is an improvement for both the medical team and patients.
