Carlos Alvarado celebrates open convention approval at PAC

February 27, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The presidential candidate of the Citizen Action Party, Carlos Alvarado Quesada, welcomed the approval of the Convention regulations in the National Assembly. The PAC will choose its presidential candidate in an open convention next July 9th.

The candidate believes that the regulations established by the National Assembly ensure a transparent, democratic and participatory process. It also allows the Internal Electoral Tribunal to set the schedule for the registration of pre – candidates and the different moments of the campaign.

I thank the National Assembly members for the work done to achieve this approval. We continue touring the country building an innovative leadership with the ability to win national elections in 2018 and continue to deepen the change in the country,”

said Alvarado.

Alvarado held that the regulation is consistent with convention party principles. It requires aspiring candidates to be up to date with their tax obligations and with social security.

Candidates are not allowed to have pending issues in the prosecution related to their functions, the Treasury, drug trafficking or sexual offenses.

The candidates will have to demonstrate they have no precautionary measures on domestic violence or pending alimony payments.
