Carlos Alvarado’s triumph according to the world

April 2, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The world reported the victory of Carlos Alvarado Quesada as the 48th president of Costa Rica and highlighted the continuity of the Citizen Action Party (PAC) in the National Executive Power.

International media such as DW, CNN and BBC highlighted the passions of the 38-year-old president-elect. Alvarado will be the youngest president in Costa Rican history.

The international channels highlighted that the second round of the elections showed a result of 60, 67% for the PAC compared to 39, 33% for the National Restoration. The publications also mention the call to national unity issued by Alvarado last night in San Pedro.

The Wall Street Journal issued the headline “Ruling party easily wins the Presidency”, El País from Spain indicates “Costa Rica bets for continuity and avoids giving power to the evangelical leader” and the British newspaper The Guardian points out “Costa Rica: Carlos Alvarado wins the presidency in election on homosexual rights”, while Le Parisien, from France, stated “Costa Rica: the candidate for gay marriage is elected president.”
