CCSS officials were victims of fatal crash on Route 1

January 25, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The two victims of Tuesday morning’s multiple crash on the General Cañas highway were officials of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS).

A man named Méndez was the driver of the vehicle and had worked for several years at Hospital México.

The other victim was an employee of Proveeduría, from Alajuela’s hospital, who was on his way to give a talk in the medical center. However, fate played a trick on them.

The information was confirmed by Francisco Pérez, director of the hospital in Alajuela, who said he was very affected.

Douglas Montero, head of the Mexico hospital, only said he would not refer to the issue until the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) provides the official report.

The vehicle in which they traveled was pressed between a bus and an ambulance.
