CCSS tries to shorten the deadline to ratify illegality of strike

October 10, 2018 by Staff News Writer

On Wednesday morning, one of the lawyers of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) presented the latest documentation requesting the ratification of illegality of the strike in health sectors.

As stated in the document, the institution maintains the argument that

it is absolutely clear that the medical centers participating in the strike are part of the hospital health service provided by the CCSS to the national population, it is a public service of health that, by legal and constitutional provision, has express prohibition to strike.”

In addition, the CCSS is trying to shorten the deadline for the illegality to be ratified, since it made the following petition:

Given the undoubted brief nature of this proceeding and the public interest on the resolution of this case, I waive the deadline granted in the resolution and request:

1. Overruling appeals and exceptions filed and, in consequence, confirming the sentence.

2. Maintaining the costs of the sentence against the unions that are being sued.”

UNDECA, the National Medical Union, the National Association of Nursing Professionals (ANPE) and the National Nursing Union (SINAE) presented their appeals on October 5th.
