CCSS will not apply fiscal rule

August 13, 2019 by Staff News Writer

On Monday night it was confirmed that the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) will not apply the cost control measure called fiscal rule.

The exoneration is part of the agreements between the government and health unions to end the strike that affected the sector in the last week.

As it is read in point number five of the document released on Monday,

the fiscal rule does not reach any of the budget items of the institution, so it will continue to promote all the appropriate actions to strengthen health services to all the citizenship.”

The CCSS authorities asked not to be included in the fiscal rule because its growth was limited to 4.67% next year.

Now, they will have more freedom in that area.

On the other hand, the pension scheme of the IVM that manages the Fund will not be subject to said rule.
