Child poisoned with strawberry pesticide in Alajuela

A five-year-old boy was taken to a medical center in critical condition after he allegedly ingested strawberry pesticide in Poasito de Alajuela.

Marcos Alfaro, from the Red Cross reported that the incident occurred on Sunday night in Sabanilla de Poasito. Apparently, the little one ingested the product and became intoxicated. Although he was conscious, he was transferred to San Rafael hospital.

The product that the child would have consumed is known as “Fénix” and t’ used to control pests in strawberry fields.
