Children in Upala’s shelter suffered outbreak of diarrhea

November 29, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Authorities of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) reported the attention of a group of children with diarrhea in one of the shelters located in Upala.

It was the shelter in Popoyuapa and authorities say it is the only shelter where an outbreak was reported.

In emergency cases, such as Hurricane Otto last week, these outbreaks are common in overcrowded relief centers.

For this reason, the CCSS is asking for measures such as hand washing and protocols for coughing and sneezing.
