Citizens took the law into their hands and hit 4 alleged thieves

October 14, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Citizens from Islita area in Puntarenas were fed up due to the constant thefts of the engines from the fishermen’s boats. As consequence, several people took the law into their own hands and started to hit and shoot those suspected of committing crimes.

Apparently, the locals found two men trying to steal and they shot and wounded both subjects. Two of the suspects had minor injuries in their limbs. The other injured men are residents of the area.

Coast Guard officers and security forces recovered an engine and they now remain in the area looking for weapons and protecting the site of the incident.

Suspects were arrested.
