Civil Aviation completes certification of Juan Santamaría Airport

January 23, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Costa Rica concluded the process by which it certifies the Juan Santamaría International Airport.

The entity indicated that within the regional safety targets it was established that 48% of the international airports of Central America and the Caribbean had to be certified by December 2016 at the latest.

Juan Santamaría is the third airport certified in the region after the air terminals Monsignor Oscar Arnulfo Romero from El Salvador, and Augusto César Sandino from Nicaragua.

The certificate ensures compliance with the standards and methods established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Certification reduces deficiencies and operational errors at the airport.
