Claro and Telefónica to bring broadband to northern zone

Claro and Telefónica (Movistar in Costa Rica) have been awared contracts to develop broadband Internet for the Northern Zone. The contracts are financed by the National Fund for Telecommunications (Fonatel), which is financed by taxes on telephone lines, and has the goal of bringing infrastructure to less developed, rural parts of Costa Rica. The projects will provide access in Guatuso, Los Chiles, Upala, San Carlos and Sarapiquí.
