November 7, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The National Emergency Commission (CNE) declared a green alert on Wednesday for the Caribbean and the Northern Zone of the country, due to heavy rains in recent days.

Tropical wave number 46 entered the country on Wednesday morning causing rainy conditions in the Caribbean, North Zone and part of the Central Valley, so the entity decided to issue the alert, according to Jorge Rovira, director of Risk Management of the entity.

Although the rain has dropped, the soils are saturated. The the most important rainy and electric activity will be concentrated in the Central and South Pacific regions with scattered rains and localized downpours.

In addition, scattered rainfall is expected with a possible thunderstorm in the West of the Central Valley, the Nicoya Peninsula, the Northern Zone and mountainous sectors of the Caribbean.
