CNE issues green alert due to heavy rains and winds

November 28, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The National Emergency Commission (CNE) issued a green alert for the Caribbean regions and the North Zone of the country due to an increase in rainfall and winds.

In a statement, they indicated that an increase in the atmospheric pressure on the Caribbean Sea leads to accelerated isolated winds in the country as well as greater humidity and instability in these regions.

The CNE has already activated the Local Emergency Committees in order to be vigilant to the climatic conditions in areas of greatest risk and take preventive actions. They were also asked to keep emergency plans activated, review available inventories for possible care of affected populations and maintain permanent communication.

The CNE asked drivers to be cautious on the road and follow directions issued by official institutions through social networks or media.
