CNE plans national drill in case of earthquake

June 24, 2019 by Staff News Writer

With “Costa Rica prepared” slogan, the National Emergency Commission (CNE) seeks to raise awareness about earthquakes and invite citizens to participate in the first national evacuation drill in case of an earthquake or emergency. The activity will be held on August 19th at 10:00 a.m.

The dynamic is that at that time organized groups of companies, communities, schools and the different institutions practice their evacuation plan, so that people are prepared to act in case of an emergency situation.

Alexander Solís, president of the CNE, asks the population to raise awareness about the fact that Costa Rica is a highly seismic country, where there are even up to 12 earthquakes per day, which is why it is important to know what to do if these situations occur.
