CNE reports impact of rains in South Zone and Grecia

September 9, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The heavy rains in different parts of the country during this Sunday had a negative impact in the South Zone and the Central Valley.

Sigifredo Pérez, chief of operations of the National Emergency Commission (CNE), explained that the greatest impact occurred in the South Pacific.

We have had four or five events generated in the sector of Grecia (Alajuela). Coordination has been made with the local emergency committees, since it is necessary to mobilize a family for prevention due to an active landslide that partially affected a home,”

said Pérez.

In Golfito there were quite heavy rains, especially in the afternoon with a thunderstorm and strong winds.

The National Meteorological Institute (IMN) projects for this Monday the impact of the tropical wave # 32 of the season. This would bring rains in early hours in North Zone, Pacific and Central Valley.
