Coco Island hides biodiversity treasures

May 20, 2019 by Staff News Writer

For a lot of people, the natural beauty hidden in Isla del Coco, located in the Costa Rican Pacific, was a well-hidden secret. Its more than 200 species of fish and corals make it one of the ten best places for recreational diving in the world.

Although it is no longer a secret to anyone, it is always a good time to appreciate the natural beauty of Costa Rica.

The Deputy Minister of Water and Mares, Haydeé Rodríguez, shared a video captured in the waters of Isla del Coco in her social networks. You can see fish and a healthy ecosystem, according to Rodríguez.

We put a camera near the arch of Submerged Rock in Isla del Coco. This is the show that our Island gives us: curious fish dancing with the current and the sound of a healthy ecosystem,”

wrote Rodríguez.
