Colombian won a Costa Rican competition

November 4, 2016 by Staff News Writer

On November 3rd, the first stage of the 24th edition of Ruta de los Conquistadores took place. Great emotions were part of the 10-kilometer route.

Colombian Luis Mejia was the first competitor to reach the finish line with a time of 4 hours, 36 minutes and 32 seconds.
About 400 competitors took the start in Jacó Beach at 6 a. m. They headed the National Technical University (NTU), located in Atenas, where Mejia was the leader.

A demanding stage, faster than other years. The hardest thing to do is not to panic during the trip but the temperature was not as aggressive and that helped us all,

declared the winner.

The second place went to Spanish Josep Betalú.

Today, the second stage will be held, with a 64-kilometer-distance career from the UTN to British Motors in Santa Ana, where the favorites will try to rule.
