Comprehensive plan to protect cyclists

March 21, 2017 by Staff News Writer

In February, President Luis Guillermo Solís asked for the creation of a comprehensive plan to protect cyclists on the road. He then gave a period one month (which has already been completed) for said plan to be presented.

The petition was made just after the end of January, when three cyclists died victims of abuse and one got seriously injured.

More than a month after the order was given to the Ministry of Public Education (MEP), the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT), Deputy Transport Minister Liza Castillo detailed that the first draft of the plan is under revision.

Castillo emphasized that they have been obtaining criteria on this plan, which was elaborated thanks to a commission made up of several hierarchs.

The MEP and in the Ministry of Sports indicated that the plan was under the leadership of the MOPT and would soon be announced by the Presidency.
