Congress approves ¢300 billion for extraordinary budget

October 24, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The Legislative Assembly approved in the first reading the second extraordinary budget of the Republic (¢318 billion) requested by the Ministry of Finance for the payment of debt.

The proposal was sent on September 10th, days after the first petition for ¢600 billion was approved and processed under file 20.979.

Both proposals were made by the hierarch Rocío Aguilar due to the budgetary shortfall left by the administration of Luis Guillermo Solís that failed to warn new authorities about it.

The vote was supported by all 42 legislators present at that time. Carolina Hidalgo, president of the Legislative Assembly, informed that the second reading will be on October 30th.

It should be noted that this amount is not related to the regular budget for the fiscal year 2019.
