Costa Rica leads online shopping in Central America

Although only 12% of Costa Ricans shop online, they are the most frequent users of this service in Central America, according to the consulting firm Kantar Worldpanel.

In Central America 7% of the population shop online, well below the 31% average use throughout Latin America.

The higher use of online shopping in Costa Rica is related with its internet coverage, reaching 88% of the country, whereas the average in Central America is 47% coverage.

The Latin American countries that shop online more are Argentina with 50%, Peru with 38%, and Brazil with 34%.

The study was conducted on a base of 10,000 households in major cities in South America and Central America.
