Costa Rica made history with the launch of its first satellite

April 2, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The Children’s Museum became the “space control center” of San José on Monday afternoon. From there, a historic event was witnessed: at 2.30 p.m., the SpaceX rocket was launched with the Irazú project that will study climate change. It was launched into space from Cape Cañaveral in Florida, E.E.U.U.

The project will bring benefits to the planet and it is expected that this will be the first step in the development of the space industry in Central America and that new jobs in this field will be opened over time.

The cost of the project so far is half a million dollars.
