Costa Rica, the favorite place of American students

Costa Rica is the main destination for American students who leave their country to study in Latin America.

This was revealed by the report “Open Doors”, which details that globally, Costa Rica is the eighth place where most Americans study. In the period 2015-2016 the number of students reached 9,305 people and represented an increase of 8.5%.

Americans’ favorite countries are the UK, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, China, Costa Rica, Australia, Ireland and Japan. An estimated 313,000 Americans study abroad.

According to the study, 1 in 10 American students who complete their university studies decide to go abroad.

Similarly, the US Embassy in Costa Rica reported that during the same period 1148 Costa Rican students traveled to US territory to study.

The report notes that about one million foreigners studied in US territory, equivalent to 5% of all students across the country. The most studied professions are engineering, mathematics, computing and others related to technology.
