Costa Rican exporters are part of Fruitlogistica 2017

Costa Rican exporters are part of Fruitlogistica 2017, a fair specialized in fruits, roots and tubers. More than 65,000 people are expected to visit the place.

14 Costa Rican agricultural companies will be part of the event that is taking place in Berlin, Germany. It has 2,800 exhibitors from 84 countries.

The Costa Rican delegation includes ByC Exporters from the Ujarrás Valley, Tropifoods, Chestnut Hill Farms, Verita Tropicals Costa Rica, Productos Agropecuarios Visa, Fertinyc, Upala Agrícola, Surá Green, Jalaram Fruit, Pinaalbo, Proagroin, Isabella Fruit, Costa de Oro and Corbana.

Chayote, pineapple, banana, papaya, coconut, roots and tubers are some of the national products that are being promoted in the fair. The participating companies has the support and accompaniment of the Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promoter (PROCOMER) and the objective is to establish business with buyers from all over the world, especially Europeans, who visit to the fair to know the offer of fresh products .

César Boente, from Upala Agrícola, pineapple producer and export company, said that this fair allows him to open new opportunities. Édgar Medina, from Tropifoods, declared that the fair began “quite strong”.

Álvaro Piedra, export director of PROCOMER, stressed that Costa Rica has captured the attention of the participants in the fair, since this is the first time that the country builds a two-storey booth, which has given much more exposure and positioning To Costa Rican companies.

According to data from PROCOMER Directorate of Trade Intelligence, in 2016, the national agricultural sector exported $ 2,690 million, which meant an increase of 9% compared to 2015.

In 2016, the United States, Italy and Holland were the main buyers, while the most exported agricultural products were bananas, pineapples, cassava, gold coffee, ornamental plants, fresh watermelons, among others.
