Costa Rican food industry goes to China

May 9, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Alimentos Prosalud, El Gakeal, Chocolates Nahua, De Oro and Icafé are the five Costa Rican exporting companies that display their products at the Sial Shanghai 2016 fair, one of the world’s most important events for the food industry.

The event will take place this week in Shanghai, China, where national entrepreneurs will be in contact with Asian companies. The ones interested will arrange business meetings to discuss about the products being offered, which include canned tuna, different pineapple and papaya products, chocolate and cocoa, juices, concentrates and coffee.

The Asian market accounted for 22% of the total Costa Rican industrial exports in 2015, with international sells of $ 1,488 million, 3,8% more than in 2014.
