Costa Rican model convicted for money laundering: “I am calm”

Costa Rican model Kathia Adriana Rojas Corella will serve a 4-year sentence in Nicaragua. However, she said that she feels calm after hearing her sentence.

The 26-year-old model was arrested in December 2015 in a Managua’s condominium because of her relation with a drug trafficking organization known as “Los Caciques”.

According to the investigation conducted in Nicaragua, the group, comprised by Costa Rican and Guatemalan citizens, is accused of smuggling drugs from south to north in Central American territory.

At first, the prosecution asked for 17 years in prison. However, she was absolved of the charges of drug trafficking and organized crime. Judge Octavio Rothschhuh explained that it was only proved her participation in the money laundering.

I can only say that I’m calm and very thankful. Thanks to God first, thank you!,”

declared Corella, whose exact sentences is 4.5 years in prison.
