CRECEX says it’s important to prevent Cuban indoctrination of young people

June 3, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The Chamber of Foreign Trade (Crecex) was concerned after learning about the educational agreement signed by Costa Rica and Cuba.

The entity joins other organizations that express the same concern, based on the opinions of Costa Ricans in the different forums.

According to the group, it is urgent to prevent the indoctrination of Costa Rican youth, it is not necessary to imitate the Cuban government, which is not characterized by democratic practices.

Education and its quality belong to all of us, being an indisputable bastion of our idiosyncrasies. For this reason, Costa Rica must observe the achievements of successful countries in education. We must be guided by countries that have shown remarkable and tangible progress in their educational system and evident progress in their high indicators in terms of quality and life expectancy, such as Finland, Korea, Japan, Germany, Singapore and Slovenia, among others,”

said Rodrigo Segura, vice president of the Board of Directors of Crecex.

The agreement includes, among other things, the exchange of experienced professionals in academic matters, coordination of training programs for teachers and other education programs defined by both countries.

The bilateral agreement was signed a month ago when Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, however, Crecex asks the government to cancel the agreement immediately.
