Criminal organization used taxis for “drug home delivery service”

August 21, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Drug Control Police (PCD) dismantled a criminal organization that distributed the drugs using informal taxi drivers for an express home delivery service. The gang operated in the Southern Zone.

The Ministry of Security reported that it arrested two people named Jiménez and Díaz. The first, known as “Piolin”, is 35 years old and has no criminal record. The second subject, alias “Pilo”, is 37 years old, and he has a record for contraband.

The authorities seized 91 doses of cocaine and more than 124 thousand colones, after a raid conducted in some properties in Rio Nuevo and Barrio La Fuente de Ciudad Neily in Corredores de Puntarenas.

Before finding the suspects, the PDC had received complaints on the confidential and free line, 1176, which were followed by an investigation that began on June 9th.
