Deputy Minister of Expenditure will replace Rocío Aguilar temporarily

The Deputy Minister of Expenditures of the Ministry of Finance, Rodolfo Cordero Vargas, will take over the Ministry of Finance while President Carlos Alvarado gets a replacement for former Minister Rocío Aguilar, who resigned this week.

The Presidential House confirmed to CRHoy.com that the new chief was appointed by Alvarado on Thursday.

Cordero Vargas has a degree in Economics from the National University and a Master in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from the Inter-American University of Costa Rica.

According to the professional profile on the site of the Ministry of Finances he has been in the public sector for 20 years. Some of the institutions in which he has provided its services are the Costa Rican Institute of Electricity (ICE) and the Legislative Assembly.

At ICE he worked in the area of ​​institutional strategic planning, where he actively participated in the formulation and monitoring of strategic plans, conceptual design and implementation of the Environment Monitoring System, coordination of the Special Studies and Research Process and analysis of economic and financial situation.

During the last 12 years he was a legislative advisor, with extensive experience in the processes of law formation, political control and negotiations. He has participated in different commissions, of an ordinary and special nature, mainly in those of economic, tax, and public income and expenditure control matters.

The President acknowledged that the new hierarchy could have a different way of working but assured that the direction of his administration in fiscal and economic matters will remain the same as Aguilar.
