Deputy Minister of Interior confirms creation of new Port Police

New body aims to strengthen police counternarcotics. CRH

Deputy Minister of the Interior, Freddy Montero has confirmed the establishment of the Costa Rican Port Police. The new force is the first of its kind and will consist of a new group of Border Police, which is currently undergoing training in La Cruz, Guanacaste. Officers will work along the Caribbean coast and in cooperation with police in Panama in order to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking.
