Desamparados will have an environmental technology center

Next year, Desamparados will have an environmental technology center, which will treat and use 25 monthly tons of recyclable material collected by the Municipality.

In will be located in Patarrá, in a land donated by the Banco Hipotecario La Vivienda (BAHNVI).

It is expected that the center also includes training, induction and prevention areas, recyclable materials stores and waste sorting areas.

Gilberth Jiménez, mayor of Desamparados, explained that nowadays recyclables are taken to some collection centers and then they are sent to the companies that process them.

The long-term plan is to have a treatment plant to process recyclables.

It is expected that the construction starts in early January. Municipality officials will be in charge of this process.
