Diplomats call for changes in state powers in Venezuela to end the crisis

May 8, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The free passage of humanitarian aid, the restoration of basic rights such as health, and a change in the members of the Powers are part of the requests made by the International Contact Group (GIC) for Venezuela, which carried out its III meeting in Costa Rica on May 6th and 7th.

These agreements were signed by the members of the group, including eight member countries of the European Union, Uruguay and Costa Rica.

Also, the group calls for the release of political prisoners and expresses concern about the deterioration of the human rights of Venezuelans.

They insist that the best way to end the crisis is to call and hold free elections.

Manuel Ventura, Chancellor of Costa Rica and Federica Mogherini, High Commissioner of the European Union, said that they are ready to go to Caracas, Venezuela, where they would hold a high-level meeting with all the parties to the conflict.

Finally, they have asked donors not to cease their sponsorship, as the needs are growing in that nation.
