DIPOL dismantled an international criminal gang

February 2, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Agents from the Department of Police Intelligence (DIPOL), of the Ministry of Public Security, dismantled an international criminal gang, which attacked on beaches of Puntarenas.

The group was arrested after a robbery committed against tourists in a sector of Playa Jacó, Garabito.

The group was supposedly led by a woman surnamed García, a Nicaraguan citizen.

According to reports that would be in the hands of the International Police (INTERPOL), the detainee apparently has more cases in Nicaragua.

On February 1st, police officers started an operation until finding a car in which the woman was traveling along with 3 subjects.

The criminals had presumably-stolen articles from Playa Jacó, including jewelry.

At the moment, the identity and nationality of these three subjects is being investigated by the police.
