Don’t be scammed! ATAPS representatives are not calling people

October 18, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Alarms were activated last week due to an apparent scam to bilk people on behalf of the Technical Primary Health Care Assistants (ATAPS) from the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS).

A man posing as coordinator of this institution, tried to raise money for alleged arrangements to a street children’s shelter after a fallen tree affected its ceiling.

He assured to doctors and specialists that some people had volunteered and they were going to visit their offices to raise funds.

Some people almost fell for it, but others thought there was something weird and recorded the call.

Carmen Loaiza, nursing coordinator from the CCSS, declared that it is a terrible situation because people could not trust real representatives from the ATAPS.

If you or your friends are contacted by a man named Jesús Gutiérrez, call to 2539-0915.
