Economic sector asks whoever substitutes Rocío Aguilar continues her good work she did

October 24, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The resignation of Rocío Aguilar as Minister of Finance caused the reaction of different actors of the Economy.

Orlando Soto, general director of Grupo Financiero Acobo, said that Aguilar’s departure from the Treasury portfolio raises doubts regarding the commitment of the Government of the Republic regarding the fiscal issue and the consent of the Legislative Assembly to approve future Eurobonds emissions.

Gonzalo Delgado, president of the Costa Rican Union of Chambers and Associations of the Private Business Sector (UCCAEP), said that while the resignation surprised them at the time, they understand the reasons behind Aguilar´s decision to resign this Tuesday.

Similarly, Yolanda Fernández, president of the Chamber of Commerce, said that

We call on the Central Government to take urgent measures on issues of economic recovery, widely discussed and for the person who occupies the position of Mrs. Rocío to have her courage.”

The president of the Chamber of Foreign Trade (CRECEX) José Manuel Quirce, indicated that

her absence will weigh on this government. She was an excellent official who came to put order in public finances and correct problems that dragged on for decades.”
