Education unions announce strike will go on

October 25, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Through its social networks, the National Association of Educators (ANDE), the Trade Union of Workers of Costa Rican Education (SEC) and the National Association of Teachers of Secondary Education (APSE) announced that their strike will go on.

ANDE said they will remain firm in their position to fight against bill 20,580 and agreed not to suspend the movement.

ANDE has not given in any agreement or negotiation with the government, because of the commitment of an organization to fight, where rights and joint decisions are respected,”

said the group.

SEC explained that activities will follow the same development seen in recent weeks.

At the moment the due process of appeals is being carried out and at the same time we reiterate our call to the government so that it demonstrates the political will necessary to handle the fiscal problem,”

stated the union.

APSE also indicated that the call to continue the indefinite strike in social unity is firm, so that regionalized actions will continue throughout the country.
