Emilia Navas was sworn in as Attorney General

March 13, 2018 by Staff News Writer

At about 5:53 p.m. on Monday, Emilia Navas Aparicio was sworn in as the new prosecutor general of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

With the message of endorsement of Carlos Chinchilla, president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Navas vowed to maintain the transparent work that she initiated in October of last year when she was designated as acting general prosecutor.

I feel very honored with the appointment. But just as I swore four months ago to do the job, I do it now; putting into practice everything I have learned,”

said Navas.

The official will be in charge for the next four years and will take the place of Jorge Chavarría Guzman, who reactivated his retirement in December.

From the Lord’s lap, your father is very proud of you,”

said Chinchilla.

Navas will be the first woman to occupy this position.
