March 14, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Escazú Municipal Police apprehended three people who were drinking alcohol in the public highway. The events took place on March 11th, at Bello Horizonte.

Apparently, the subjects were under the influence of alcohol when the officers arrived. They found one of them drinking liquor in the place, which is an infraction to Law 9047.

According to the authorities, when the Municipal Police officers asked for their identifications, the subjects declared they were Poveda, Zamora and Mena.

Poveda who was the owner of the car, was transferred to the Municipal Police headquarter, because he was the one who was drinking alcohol on the site. José Rodolfo Ibarra, a spokesman from the municipality of Escazú, said that the other two people were asked to call a relative or a trusted person to pick up the car because they could not drive.

However, officers saw the vehicle one more time in a different place and, despite his condition, Zamora was driving it. The man was referred to the authorities.

Report to the Ministry

According to Ibarra, due to the situation, a report was sent to the Ministry of Security.

Carlos Hidalgo, a spokesman for the MSP, commented that since the officer were in their free time and did not wear their uniforms, they had to wait for an indictment to be sent to the Ministry, but he stated that this was not an infraction.
