ESPH will implement electronic invoice system

June 17, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Empresa de Servicios Públicos de Heredia (ESPH) was selected by the Ministry of Finance for the development, implementation and operation of an electronic invoice system, to begin in January 2017.

ESPH and another specialized company will develop the software and will use a technology platform to generate an electronic voucher per every purchase made in the country, which will significantly improve tax control processes.

This system will allow the Dirección General de Tributación to have easy and fast access to the billing information of the country.

In addition to providing real information on the amount of the purchases, this will eliminate the need of printing receipts and wasting paper.

The implementation will be phased in each of the economic sectors of the country.

Once this method of billing is mandatory, taxpayers can make adjustments to their computer systems before it comes into force.
The Ministry of Finance will invest $ 8,508,909 in the project, aiming to provide a cost-free software for taxpayers.
