Executive withdraws ROP reform from extraordinary sessions

December 6, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The Executive Branch withdrew the bill that would allow workers to fully withdraw the supplementary pension at the time of retirement from extraordinary sessions of the Legislative Assembly.

This was confirmed on Thursday by the Minister of the Presidency, Víctor Morales Mora, who indicated this was done at the request of the National Restoration Party (PRN), proposer of the questioned initiative.

Morales explained that the PRN raised the request for reasons of handling the times of the Committee on Tax Affairs of the Congress, in which the bill is processed.

This situation limits the progress of the reform to the Mandatory Pension Scheme (ROP), which expires on January 16th. To this, we must add the legislative break at the end and beginning of the year.

Morales said the initiative will be convened again by the Executive in January.
